Dual purpose cattle breeds as a success factor for sustainable dairy and beef production
Cattle farming faces the conflicting demands of sustainable production with buzzwords such as animal welfare, food security, environmental and climate mitigation. The presentation will address advantages of dual-purpose cattle, especially the Fleckvieh breed, with regard to the major challenges of sustainable milk and meat production. The efficiency and resilience of production systems and the provision of ecosystem functions play an important role in this context.
